Notice how we said “clock audio system” not “clock radio.” That’s
because–unlike most other iHome models–the iH27 isn’t equipped with
an AM/FM radio; it simply plays back what’s on your iPod through its
stereo speakers and has a built-in clock with alarm functionality.

However, what makes it more suitcase-friendly is its ability to fold
flat (an inexpensive padded carrying case is included). Once you get to
your destination you can then unpack it and fold the system up so the
speaker sits upright. It’s a pretty nifty design, but we would have
preferred if had been shrunk down somewhat. Also, the shiny black
plastic tends to be a fingerprint magnet.

XtremeMac releases InCharge FM transmitter

XtremeMac has release the InCharge FM transmitter for iPod and iPhone. The InCharge FM is designed for in-car use and is compatible with standard power outlets found in most cars. It also charges connected iPods, offers stereo/mono modes for optimal transmission, and incorporates PureFM technology. An in-line control unit offers a display, tuning and station preset buttons, as well as a play/pause/next track button to allow for quick song selection without using the iPod. “Our first FM transmitter was the first to use an LCD for tuning, and a subsequent version was the first compact unit to use an external antenna,” said CEO Gary Bart. “We have continued that path of innovation by integrating Pure FM technology into InCharge FM.” The XtremeMac InCharge FM transmitter is now available for pre-order and sells for $70; it is expected to begin shipping in the coming weeks.

The team over at Versalife has released a new speaker system called Ladybug. The speakers are designed in a ladybug fashion with fold out speaker wings. When the wings are folded out the iPod dock is revealed. There is a soft touch finish to the system and is available in red or silver colors. Unit gets it power from 4 AA batteries or the included AC adapter. There is a digital amplifier and rear facing subwoofer to ad a little punch to your music. You will also like the included carrying bag and a full function remote control. This is system is well designed with ports for AV out and auxiliary in for connection non iPod devices. Also included is a USB port for syncing your iPod to a computer when connected. The unit will charge your iPod when connected to AC power source. The speaker system is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2008 and retail for around $110.
