Rather than limiting your iPod to play reruns of The Office and old Beach Boys albums, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to listen to lastweek’s lecture on Vergil’s Aeneid while jogging or driving or sipping coffee lazily in bed? Perhaps nice doesn’t quite describe it.

An iPod Ban in New York City? You Must Be Kidding 
New York state Sen. Carl Kruger, a Democrat from Brooklyn, has proposed a $100 fine for anyone caught crossing a major city’s street on foot or bicycle while listening to an iPod, talking on a cell phone, playing a video game or sending a text message. Kruger says three people have been killed since September when they stepped out in front of cars while listening to their iPods.

Apple Inc. is likely to report a solid second quarter thanks to reduced costs for the components used to make Macs and iPods. Prudential analyst Jesse Tortora expects that stronger Mac sales will help the Apple’s bottom line even in the face of weaker iPod sales
